Lucky Stars Sanctuary Inc: Animal Assisted Learning (AAL) and Animal Assisted Therapy (AAT) Programs

At Lucky Stars Sanctuary we believe in the transformative power of human-animal interactions to nurture emotional intelligence (EQ) and promote personal growth and wellbeing. Our Animal Assisted Learning (AAL) and Animal Assisted Therapy (AAT) programs are designed to provide unique opportunities for individuals to develop essential socio-emotional skills while fostering meaningful connections with our therapy animals.

Animal Assisted Learning (AAL): Cultivating Emotional Intelligence

Our AAL program focuses on cultivating emotional intelligence (EQ) through engaging activities that promote self-awareness, empathy, and communication skills. Participants have the opportunity to interact with our therapy animals in a safe and supportive environment, where they learn to recognise and regulate their emotions while building meaningful relationships with our furry friends.

Research has shown that participation in AAL activities leads to improvements in emotional regulation, social interaction, and overall psychological well-being. For individuals with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) or attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), AAL can enhance communication, social skills, and academic performance.

Animal Assisted Therapy (AAT): Enhancing Emotional Wellbeing

AAT promotes emotional intelligence by fostering empathy, self-awareness and social skills that contribute to individuals’ overall wellbeing and employability.

In our AAT program, qualified therapists utilise the bond between humans and animals to facilitate healing and growth. Interactions with therapy animals have been shown to reduce stress, anxiety, and depression, providing immediate emotional comfort and support to individuals in need. Our team will integrate with the client’s therapist to extend the therapeutic work undertaken prior to arriving at Lucky Stars.

Through activities such as petting, grooming, and engaging in structured exercises with animals, clients develop trust, empathy, and self-esteem. This can lead to enhanced emotional wellbeing and personal development.
